Crew 2948

You might ask yourself, “What did I do last weekend that was fun? Or the weekend before?” If you ask a Venture Crew member they might say “Camping!”, “Snorkeling!”, “Hiking!”, “Canoeing!” or “Geo-caching!”. You too can join the fun of a Venture Crew. Other Crew activities are first aid, wilderness survival, cooking, “Leave No Trace”, navigation, conservation, cycling, community involvement, volunteering, water sports, fitness and nutrition, kayaking, and winter sports/ activities to name a few.

Crew 2948 is chartered by the American Legion in Kalispell, MT.

March - Hike up Lone Pine in the afternoon: Rollerskating at Shady Lane Roller rink. 6-9pm.Cost: $4 + $1 skate rental

April - Roadside Trash Cleanup with American Legion (9am-11am?) - Costco Lunch ($1.50 - $4.00), Matinee Movie - Venturer’s choice @ Signature Theaters($6.25)

May 6,7,8- Nite Trek! in British Columbia, Canada. Coed with Canada’s Girl Guides and Canada’s Boy Scouts. 200-300 participants. Costs:$20 + $10 gas + food+ optional T-shirt $15

May 29,30 - Bike ride at Hiawatha Bike Trail near Lookout Pass. $9.00 Ticket + food. Optional Bike rental $29. This can be a camp out or day trip. http://www.skilookout.com/hiawatha/

June 16-19 - Statewide Camp-o-ree in Townsend, MT. 300-500 participants. Cost: $ 20 + gas + food.

June 21,22, 24,25 - Staff at Grizzly Base Day Camp. Camping optional. 24-25th is a overnighter with campfire program for Webelos scouts. Pays $20 per day!

July 4th Parade downtown Kalispell

Melita Island is a 65 Acre Scout camp on Flathead Lake. Venturers would be payed $160- $250 per week. July 1-7 - Melita Island Staff Week July 10 -16 Melita Week 1: July 17 - 23 , Melita Week 2; July 24 - 30 Melita Week 3, July 31- Aug 6 Melita Week 4 Aug 7 - 13 Melita Webelos Week

Aug 20 - Fair Parade downtown Kalispell

Sept - Day Hike into Hidden Lake, Glacier Park

October - Fall Highway Trash clean up with American Legion. October 1 - Popcorn sales begin or Cornstalks Fundraiser, or Wreath Fundraiser. October - 29,30,31 - Help put on Haunted House at Evergreen Moose Lodge with Troop 1948.

November/ December - Help out with “Christmas at our House” Community Dinner.

December - Skiing Trip. Blacktail Mountain or Big Mountain. Cost varied December 18th - Visit Montana Vets Home (Columbia Falls) Sing Carols and visit with residents.

-Also we’d try and see about helping out at a community kitchen through out the year, and/or at a food bank. -All dates and events are subject to change.
