Come join us at camp! We are located at Grizzly Base Camp, which is nestled in the foothills of the northern Swan Mountain Range, heading east toward Echo Lake. The Montana Council of the Boy Scouts of America offers this one-of-a-kind outdoor destination. It is also strategically positioned to give maximum access to over 400 acres of tall pine and fir trees and rugged hills.
CAMP DIRECTOR: Julianne McCracken joined us last year and is the newest of the Day Camp staff. She hit the ground running and hasn’t stopped yet. She’s a Committee member and Den Leader in pack 4918. She resides in Columbia Falls with her husband and 8 kids.

CAMP ADMINISTRATOR: Denis Johnson is a powerhouse of idea’s and activities and he runs on pure energy. He is active in pack 4948 as a Cubmaster. He is Unit Commissioner in packs 4948 and 4944 and troops 1948 and 1933. He resides in Kalispell with his wife, 5 children and a dog.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Ginger Wicks is intellectual and real quiet, always keeping her ears open to add her input. She is active in pack 4101 and an addict of scrap booking. She resides in Columbia Falls with her husband, one son and 2 furry dog “daughters”.

CAMP HOST: The Ingraham Family will be on the Grizzly Base Camp premises all 4 days. They are available after hours in the main parking lot, in a camper. Feel free to contact them with questions or concerns.
Please read over this with your scout
- Check-In – Please arrive promptly at the camp start time. Parents/Guardians must escort their boy to the proper check-in location each day and sign them in with their Den Leader @ 8:30am.
- Check-out – Please arrive promptly at the scheduled camp ending time of 4:00pm to pick up your boy. They will need to be signed out with their den leader before they will be allowed to leave.
- If someone other than a parent or guardian is to pick up the Cub, there must be prior written notification from the Cub’s parent or guardian. ID will be checked for anyone other than parents.
- Lunch – There are no dining facilities available. Boys are required to bring their own lunch each day.
- Anyone attending camp that has any health issues must check in with the camp health officer on the first morning. If you are the parent/guardian of a boy with any health issues, you must escort your boy to the check-in.
- Medications: All medications must be checked in and cleared with the camp health officer upon arrival. Medications must be clearly labeled with the boy’s name and dosage schedule. Medications must be noted on the boys’ medical form.
- Cubs are required to wear closed toe shoes at all times. Sandals are not permitted at Cub Day Camp.
- NO **KNIVES, MATCHES, TOYS OR ELECTRONICS (camera’s are fine). If these items arrive at camp, they will be taken and given to the scout at the end of the day and asked that the items be left at home. **Scouts with Whittling Chip cards are allowed to carry BSA approved knives with the approval of their parents and camp den leader if they are carrying their cards.
What parents/leaders should know:
- Trading Post - There is a store set up for all 4 days. We have snacks, water, bandanas, survival gear and much more available. The scouts can bring scout bucks or cash to spend at the trading post. It is before and after camp, so parents can shop also.
- Remember that things have a tendency to get lost at camp, please plan accordingly and label items with first and last names.
- The Buddy system – Cubs will be paired up with a buddy and will need to know where their buddy is at all times.
- Cubs must have the Camp Director’s permission to leave camp. This includes any time between opening ceremony and camp dismissal.
- Cubs will be respectful towards all adults, staff members and visitors.
- Cubs will be respectful and mindful of the feelings, safety and property of their fellow scouts.
- Friday will be the Webelos overnight camping. Come into the trading post after 4:00pm to get your campsite assignment. Your Webelos will get ample opportunity to set up camp and have dinner, before the “campfire program”.
- Appropriate language will be used at all times. All leaders will be addressed by their proper name.
- Cubs must walk while in the camp area, unless required to run as part of an activity.
- Throwing things at camp is not allowed, unless part of a supervised camp activity.
- Items to bring daily: Camp T-Shirt, Poncho or rain gear (if cloudy), hat or visor, sweater or jacket, lunch/water bottle, spending money, closed toe shoes - no sandals, backpack to carry all your stuff, camera (optional), mosquito repellant, and sunscreen.
Heading south: From the Hwy 206 and Hwy 35 junction, drive south 7.4 miles to LaBrant Road, it on your left. If you have reached Bigfork, you are too far.
Heading north: From the Swan Hwy and Hwy 35 junction, drive north 4.1 miles to LaBrant Road, it is on your right. If you have reached Creston School, you are too far.
When you turn onto LaBrant Road, drive 1.7 miles to the 2nd Grizzly Base Camp driveway. It’ll be on the right hand side and you will see the large entrance sign.
